Liveable cities through digital and intelligent urban planning

Building is going digital.

"We are standardising and digitalising the construction industry," said Dr. Christian Schlosser from the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) in his short presentation. The goal: more liveable cities through digital, intelligent urban planning.

Schlosser reported on the BMDV's commitment to putting innovations into practice. For example, BIM, digital twins and artificial intelligence based on geodata are being used as part of research funding for digitally communicating transport systems. The BMDV is also funding the phased plans for digital planning and construction, the BIM masterplan for federal trunk roads and the BIM strategy of Deutsche Bahn.

The Federal Ministry is strongly committed to communicating the important topic of digitalisation, for example via the BIM Germany initiative. Other components of the BIM activities: Participation in standardisation, standardisation and thus harmonisation for BIM in national and international committees as well as the development of the federal government's BIM portal. Among other things, Schlosser emphasised the high efficiency gains and savings potential that BIM makes possible.
