The central online service with interactive map tool
dipul is the ‘Digital Platform for Unmanned Aviation’ and the central online service in Germany with comprehensive information for private drone pilots and professional drone operators.
Christoph Noack from the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport Affairs (BMDV) presented at the Unmanned Systems Stage of INTERGEO 2024 in Stuttgart how the portal operated by the BMDV can be used correctly and efficiently. In addition to a lot of important information on legal bases, minimum age, drone definitions and safety instructions, the tool shows which authorisations are required for the ascent and names contact persons for applications and official services.
Noack made particular reference to the interactive map tool, which shows areas where drone flights are permitted or restricted by clicking on the map. In the future, weather forecasts from the German Weather Service (DWD) tailored to drone operations will also be integrated into dipul. In order to further increase safety in unmanned aviation, the tool will carry out automatic calculations of contingency plans and calculate the so-called ground risk, i.e. the danger to people, buildings or goods on the ground.
