BIM is part of the national sustainability strategy.
Dr. Josef Kauer, President of BIM-Tage Deutschland Deutschland, which cooperates with INTERGEO, moderated the "Scan2BIM" theme slot presented on the EXPO stage. Reality capture, i.e. the scan of (built) reality, is of particular importance in the construction of existing buildings. The world elite of the scanning society comes together at INTERGEO, from which he concluded crystal clear: "The cooperation with INTERGEO will be continued." Prof. Dr. Steffen Warmbold, Vice President of the Berufsverband Beratender Ingenieure e.V. (BVI), called for more digitalization in construction "as soon as possible". Building Information Modeling (BIM) is coming, said Professor Warmbold, that is the clear statement of the federal government.
The BIM Portal Germany, where public clients can find information material on all service phases, is proof of the federal government's clear commitment to BIM. Warmbold showed how BIM is already being used as a method for federal highways and Deutsche Bahn. Green BIM is also a component of the national sustainability strategy. In infrastructure and building construction, BIM is a model that can be used in all situations. The aim is: "As planned, as built, as is", said the VBI representative. BIM is increasingly becoming the project standard in planning and construction, also in order to achieve decarbonization. He sees great potential for Scan2BIM in the detection of damage patterns, for example on bridges. Artificial intelligence brings even more efficiency here.
Both Warmbold and his subsequent speaker Gregor Willhauck, Cloud Solutions Market Manager at Trimble, emphasized how fundamental it is to break down data silos and create comprehensive solutions. Trimble has created a platform for precisely this purpose with Trimble Connect, on which 30 million users are already mapping their workflows.
