VertiGIS, the leading provider of spatial asset management solutions, offers a variety of its applications in global cloud platforms. The primary platform will be the Microsoft Azure public cloud, which offers a high degree of flexibility, scalability, security, compliance and data protection. In addition, Azure has data centers around the world that ensure low-latency access to services - an important criterion for VertiGIS, which operates in 23 countries and has a global customer base.

Christoph Ihnenfeld, VP Global IT VertiGIS, says:

Many of our customers are increasingly faced with the challenge of managing their IT infrastructures in today's modern digital environment. This is where the cloud comes into play, allowing companies to move their existing applications to a cloud infrastructure and take advantage of the multi-tenant SaaS solutions we have put in place. The advantage of Azure is also the seamless integration of on-premises data centers. This means our customers can choose depending on where they are on their cloud journey.”

Another major challenge is the increasing threat in the area of cyber security. Many organizations are unable to respond appropriately to the growing threat in terms of expertise and personnel. VertiGIS is SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certified, certifying a world-class cyber security posture and giving customers peace of mind that their applications and data are managed securely.

At the same time, VertiGIS has extensive experience in the provision and management of cloud environments. The global company was recently awarded the “ArcGIS Cloud Services Speciality” by Esri, a market leader in the GIS sector, with whom VertiGIS has a close partnership. To earn this distinction, VertiGIS went through a rigorous testing and certification process to demonstrate its expertise in key areas of the cloud, including cloud deployments, system architecture, migrations and managed services for Esri's ArcGIS.

Some organizations want to ensure that their data is hosted with a European cloud provider. VertiGIS therefore works with a second cloud provider, the Open Telekom Cloud (OTC), which belongs to Deutsche Telekom. Three major VertiGIS customers - Berlin, Bremen and Hamburg - already use OTC. VertiGIS also offers an additional hybrid cloud option that allows customers to use VertiGIS' SaaS infrastructure while customer data is secured behind the customer's own firewall.

Thomas Buchmann, Senior Cloud Architect at VertiGIS, summarizes VertiGIS' unique offering:

We want to offer our customers the ultimate choice. The VertiGIS Cloud is flexible and configurable to meet individual requirements. We ensure that our customers keep up with the latest trends while responding to the pace of technological change and ensuring that their environment meets future requirements.
